families settled down in
front of their television sets to watch the "Ed Sullivan Show",
not knowing in the next hour they would witness the start of a revolution.
That wintry Sunday night America met four eager and energetic Liverpool
lads who would unintentionally change the course of history through their
music.
Soon, garages in every neighborhood rang with the chords from young bands
under the spell of rock and roll. A new culture had begun and seven young
men- Josh Leo, Larry Lee, Jim Photglo, Harry Stinson, Vince Melamed, Larry
Byrom and Michael Rhodes- fell head over heels in love with music.
Over the next several decades, they would individually become some of
the music industry's most accomplished singers, songwriters, musicians
and producers, contributing their remarkable talents to dozens of chart-topping
hits of rock and country superstars such as Sting, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Buffett,
Elton John, Glenn Frye, Shania Twain, Bob Seger, Faith Hill, Tina Turner,
James Ingram, Michael McDonald, Dan Fogelberg, Peter Frampton, Neil Young
and dozens more. But their original inspiration stayed ablaze in their
hearts and in the late 80ís they joined their legendary talents,
unparalleled musicianship and unbelievable accomplishments to form what
is now the Vinyl Kings. Before long, they became one of the most celebrated
bands in Nashville, packing clubs and thrilling crowds while building
an impressive name for themselves on the local music scene with their
amazing originals and perfect renditions of the greatest hits of the past
forty years like "A Hard Days Night" , "Back in the USSR",
"Street Fighting Man" , "Ain't That Peculiar" , and
"We Gotta Get Out of This Place".
"It's a very healing experience. Because, let's face it, in this
town, we get a little jaded", says Vinyl King Jim Photoglo. "I
mean, it's music day in and day out, music as a job. And a lot of the
times, whether you're a session player or a producer or a singer or whatever,
you're doing something that you maybe don't dig so much. You know, maybe
the song is not your cup of tea. These things happen, let's face it. It's
business. But the Vinyl Kings are about something else, and that's why
it's been so much fun for us, and so much fun for our audience."
Having helped to construct the rock and roll empire alongside some of
the most well-known artists of all time, the Vinyl Kings now bring together
their influence, experiences and respect for the band that originally
inspired them in their original album A Little Trip, released in the Fall
of 2002. A Little Trip captures the magic and feel of the original sound
and take the listener on a trip through the history and music of the band
the changed the world: The Beatles.
"If I were McCartney,
I would sue these guys theyíre so good!" says long-time friend
Jimmy Buffett.
"As a result of my involvement in writing, recording, and performing
with the Vinyl Kings", says Larry Lee," I've experienced a renewed
love and excitement for music. After years of doing what I was doing in
this business, the music had become somewhat of a job".
A Little Trip became a best-seller on CDBaby.com before itís official
release date, quite a feat considering the thousands of albums available
on the popular site. It has garnered praise spanning across the globe,
from Australia to Germany to Sweden, and has united a new generation of
Beatle lovers.
