"It
is important that you know that The Beatles and the time in which the
band existed were, for all of us, the gift of inspiration that drove us
to a life of music. In its own way this album is our reconnection to that
gift, that spark, that desire and love."
- message from the Vinyl Kings

"If
I were McCartney, I would sue these guys they're so good!"
Jimmy Buffett

Martina McBride
"Uncanny in spirit, sound, humor and devotion to the originals!"
Rosanne Cash

- John Kay of Steppenwolf

"A
Little Trip is a nostalgia trip worth taking in the spirit of fun, a group
of talented musicians bestowing a loving musical thank-you to those who
have given us such a marvelous legacy. Put on the headphones and see if
you can cite the references - or simply enjoy the music for the quality
endeavor it is."
Gary Glauber, Fufkin.com
".
. . a loving musical tribute to the Fab Four in the guise of 13 "original"
Beatle-esque tunes, bound to please. . .Strong musicianship well-executed
and clean production make A Little Trip one worth taking.
"Best Music of 2002" Pop Matters,Gary Glauber
"A
Little Trip is a celebration of the Beatles - they thank them in the liner
notes - and an acknowledgement of the inspiration they have provided to
a generation of musicians, and if imitation is the highest form of flattery,
it's difficult to fault this record."
Leicester Bangs
". . . [a] masterwork of melodious metamorphosis. . . This record
is simply a gorgeous reconciliation of bittersweet content mixed with
the eerily upbeat pop melodies that once made a group of moptops from
England one of the most important group of artists in music history. It
was made from love and respect for that contribution, and holds fast to
the truths espoused by the original group. And in the end, it is one of
the best albums created this year."
- Heidi Drockelman, Indie-Music.com
"This is truly an astonishing display of Beatlesesque and Beatlesish
pop and rockín roll."
-Shona Winfrey, Fufkin.com
"Even if you weren't a kid when the Beatles debuted on the Ed Sullivan
Show, the Vinyl Kings' still works as a lyrical salute by some Nashville
cats to those Liverpool lads who deliberately made some fabulous albums
and accidentally changed the world."
Tony Peyser, Santa Monica Mirror
"Tonight. . .the Vinyl Kings are the Beatles, all periods, Lennon
and McCartney, George and Ringo, the whole shebang. It's a terrific facsimile
of a classic sound, and it ís to be commended that all 13 tracks
are band originals, rather than Bootleg Beatles-style covers."
Leicester Bangs

"If you're a Beatles fan, this tribute to them is like having that
final album you'd always wished they had recorded."
Noel Diotte, Cover Runner Radio
"The Vinyl Kings bring their collective heart to the music. Knowing
the incredible level of musicianship among them. It's amazing how simple
and uncomplicated they make it sound."
Kalle Oldby, Scandinaviaís Radio Casino SRP4
"Do you like the Beatles? Great. - Did you
hear about the Vinyl Kings? No? - What a shame. Because this band is really
hot. This band starts where the Beatles have finished. New songs in a
late 60s style. Great songs, brilliant musicians, and real good voices.
- So, if you like the Beatles, you will love the Vinyl Kings. They will
take you back in time. - So do not hesitate and buy their brand new CD.
Or better: buy 2 or 3 CD`s and give one of them as a present to your best
friend. ... "

"I
love the idea of writing new songs in the same vein as the Beatles, and
the Vinyl Kings have executed their idea very well and with a great deal
of love. Some of these songs could have been hits for the Beatles."
Spencer Leigh, BBC Radio Merseyside, Liverpool, England
"The
Vinyl Kings cd is appropriately titled "A Little Trip"; as it
certainly takes me back to a time of my earliest musical memories. Elvis,
The Four Seasons, The Rolling Stones, and of course The Beatles. Every
track is a winner, and has been played on my show a number of times. The
Vinyl Kings sound is erie, reminiscent, thoughtful, fresh and just plain
great!
Guitarist Larry Byrom first caught my attention with the legendary Steppenwolf
in 1970. Monster, Move Over, Hey Lawdy Mama, his contribution to classic
rock is immense. Had Larry retired after leaving Steppenwolf he would
have deserved a spot in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Add to that his
wealth of work as a top session man, and now the Vinyl Kings, that only
adds to his resume of greatness.
As far as Larry Lee goes, from a musical stand point, 1975 would not have
been 1975 without the Ozark Mountain Daredevils's Jackie Blue, I wore
out 2 45's of it and now am trying to do the same to the cd. "A Little
Trip" by the Vinyl Kings is then and now all rolled into one."
